Windward Islands
The Windward Islands are the southern islands of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean, including Dominica, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada. Long contested between France and Britain, the British islands were grouped under a single governor from 1833, an arrangement that lasted until 1960, when most of them had joined the West Indies Federation.
