Xoybûn

1927 · 20th century · Also known as Khoybun

Xoybûn ('Independence') was a Kurdish nationalist league founded in 1927 in Lebanon by Kurdish exiles and intellectuals, including members of the Bedirkhan family. It organised and supported the Ararat rebellion against Turkey from 1927 to 1930, led in the field by Ihsan Nuri Pasha. After the rebellion's defeat it continued mainly as a political and cultural movement among exiles in Syria and Lebanon.
