Yazaman al-Khadim

Yazaman al-Khadim was a eunuch commander who governed the frontier city of Tarsus in Cilicia from 882 until his death in 891. He led repeated land and sea raids against the Byzantine Empire and resisted the Tulunids of Egypt for a time before accepting their authority. He died of wounds received during a campaign into Byzantine Anatolia, and is remembered as one of the most successful leaders of the Tarsus frontier.
