Yusuf IV of Granada

d. 1432 · 15th century · Also known as Ibn al-Mawl

Yusuf IV, known as Ibn al-Mawl, was Nasrid emir of Granada for a few months in 1432. Backed by John II of Castile after the Castilian victory at La Higueruela, he took power from Muhammad IX and ruled as a Castilian vassal, but he soon lost support and was killed when Muhammad IX regained the throne. His brief reign showed how Castile exploited Nasrid divisions.
