Zwolle
Zwolle is a city in the north-eastern Netherlands, capital of the province of Overijssel. A Hanseatic town near the IJssel, it prospered on river trade in the late Middle Ages and was a centre of the Devotio Moderna; Thomas à Kempis lived at the nearby monastery of Mount Saint Agnes. With Deventer and Kampen it was one of the three leading towns in the province's estates.
