Abarkuh

Also known as Abarquh

Abarkuh is a town in Yazd Province in central Iran, on old routes between Yazd, Shiraz and Isfahan. In the 11th century it was granted with Yazd to the Kakuyid prince Faramurz by the Seljuks, and it later belonged to the atabegs of Yazd. It is known for the Gonbad-e Ali tomb tower of 1056 and an ancient cypress tree said to be several thousand years old.
