Abel-beth-maacah

Also known as Tel Abel Beth Maacah

Abel-beth-maacah was an ancient town in the far north of Israel, near Metula, identified with the mound of Tel Abel Beth Maacah. The Bible names it as a city in the land of Maacah, attacked by Ben-Hadad I of Damascus and conquered by Tiglath-Pileser III of Assyria in 732 BCE. Excavations since 2013 have uncovered remains of the Bronze and Iron Ages.
