Abha
Abha is the capital of the Asir region in south-western Saudi Arabia, standing about 2,200 metres up in the Sarawat mountains. In the 19th century it was the seat of the Al Aidh emirs of Asir until an Ottoman army took it in 1871–1872, and it was incorporated into the Saudi state in the early 1920s. Its mild climate has made it a summer resort.
