Muhammad ibn A'id
Muhammad ibn A'id was the last independent emir of Asir in south-western Arabia, from the Al A'id family that ruled from Abha. He kept the emirate largely free of Ottoman control despite repeated campaigns, but in 1871–1872 an Ottoman army took Abha and he was killed. Asir then became a sanjak of the Yemen Vilayet.
