Acts of Union 1800
The Acts of Union 1800 were parallel acts of the Parliament of Great Britain and the Parliament of Ireland that united the two kingdoms as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1 January 1801. Passed after the Irish rebellion of 1798, with heavy use of patronage in Dublin, they abolished the Irish Parliament and sent Irish members to Westminster. The Catholic emancipation expected with union came only in 1829.
