Aeolis
Aeolis was the ancient name of the north-western coast of Anatolia and the island of Lesbos, settled by Aeolian Greeks from the 11th century BCE. Its cities, including Cyme, Myrina and those of Lesbos, formed a league and spoke the Aeolic dialect of Greek. They came under Lydia, then Persia, and later formed part of the Roman province of Asia.
