Ahichchhatra

Ahichchhatra was an ancient city in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, India, remembered as the capital of northern Panchala. Its extensive ruins near Ramnagar include fortifications and terraced brick temples, and excavations have revealed occupation from the Painted Grey Ware period into medieval times. Coins of the local Mitra kings and remains of the Kushan and Gupta periods have been found there.
