Ahmad Shah Bahadur

1725–1775 · 18th century

Ahmad Shah Bahadur was Mughal emperor from 1748 to 1754, the son of Muhammad Shah. His reign saw the empire lose the Punjab to Ahmad Shah Durrani and suffer raids by the Marathas, while power at court lay with ministers and his mother. In 1754 the vizier Ghazi-ud-din Khan Imad-ul-Mulk deposed and blinded him, and he lived in captivity until his death in 1775.
