Jalaun district

Jalaun district is a district in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh, India, south of the Yamuna, with its headquarters at Orai. In the 18th century the area came under Maratha rule, and Jalaun became a Maratha principality that lapsed to the British in 1840. Its lands also include the former state of Baoni, which became part of Uttar Pradesh after Indian independence.
