Albertine line
The Albertine line is the younger branch of the house of Wettin, founded by Duke Albert III of Saxony when he and his brother Ernest divided their lands by the Division of Leipzig in 1485. It held Meissen with Dresden and Leipzig, and in 1547 it gained the electoral title from the Ernestines. Its members ruled Saxony as electors and, from 1806 to 1918, as kings, and two were elected kings of Poland.
