Albreda
Albreda is a village on the north bank of the Gambia River in The Gambia, near James Island. From the late 17th century it was a French trading post that competed with the English fort on James Island for the trade of the kingdom of Niumi, including the slave trade. France ceded it to Britain in 1857. Albreda is part of the Kunta Kinteh Island and Related Sites World Heritage Site.
