Alfonso VI of Castile
Alfonso VI of Castile was king of León and Castile in the late eleventh century. His capture of Toledo in 1085 alarmed the Muslim taifa kings, who invited the Almoravids from North Africa to help them. The Almoravid army defeated him at the Battle of Sagrajas in 1086, beginning Almoravid involvement in al-Andalus.
