Amecameca

Also known as Amaquemecan

Amecameca is a town in the State of Mexico, at the foot of the volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. As Amaquemecan it was one of the leading altepetl of the Chalca confederation before the Aztec conquest of Chalco in the 15th century. It was the birthplace of the Nahua chronicler Chimalpahin, who recorded its history.
