Anambra River
The Anambra River, also called the Omambala, is a river of south-eastern Nigeria that flows into the Niger near Onitsha. Its valley is the setting of Nri traditions, which say the culture hero Eri descended from the sky near its banks. The river gave its name to Anambra State, created in 1976, and its floodplains are important for farming and fishing.
