Anastasia of Slutsk

d. after 1518 · 16th century · Also known as Anastasia Olelkovich

Anastasia of Slutsk was the widow of Prince Semyon Olelkovich and ruled the Duchy of Slutsk as regent for her son Yury in the early 16th century. In 1506 she organised the defence of Slutsk against a Crimean Tatar siege, which made her a heroine of Belarusian tradition. Her rule kept the Olelkovich princes among the leading Orthodox magnates of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
