Anglo-Burmese Wars

1824–1885 · 19th century

The Anglo-Burmese Wars were three wars fought between British India and the Konbaung kingdom of Burma in the nineteenth century. The First (1824–1826) cost Burma Arakan, Tenasserim and its claims to Assam and Manipur; the Second (1852–1853) gave Britain Lower Burma; and the Third (1885) ended the monarchy, after which all of Burma was annexed to British India in 1886.
