Apadana
The Apadana is the great audience hall of Persepolis, begun by Darius I around 515 BCE and completed under Xerxes I. Its roof rested on seventy-two stone columns about 20 metres high. The reliefs of its staircases show delegations from the peoples of the Achaemenid Empire, among them Saka in pointed caps, bringing gifts to the king, and are a key source for the appearance of these peoples.
