Ariège (river)

The Ariège is a river of south-western France, about 163 km long, rising in the Pyrenees near the border with Andorra and flowing north past Foix and Pamiers to join the Garonne just south of Toulouse. The medieval County of Foix grew up around the castle above its valley.
