1919–1920 · 20th century

The Armed Forces of South Russia were the main White army in southern Russia during the Russian Civil War, formed in January 1919 under General Anton Denikin. Combining the Volunteer Army with the Don and Kuban Cossack forces, they advanced as far as Oryol in October 1919 before being driven back. After Denikin's resignation in 1920, Pyotr Wrangel reorganised the remnants in Crimea.
