Arris

Arris is a town in the Aurès mountains of north-eastern Algeria, in Batna Province. A Latin inscription found there commemorates the Berber ruler Masties, who claimed to have been duke and emperor and to have kept faith with both Romans and Moors. In November 1954 the Aurès around Arris was a main starting point of the Algerian War of Independence.
