Ash Shihr
Ash Shihr is a port town on the Arabian Sea coast of Hadramawt, Yemen, east of Mukalla. For centuries a chief port of Hadramawt for frankincense, horses and Indian Ocean trade, it gave its name to the whole coast in medieval Arabic geography. Long held by the Kathiri sultans, it passed to the Qu'aiti dynasty in the 19th century and was their seat before Mukalla.
