Shibam
Shibam is a walled town in the Wadi Hadramawt of eastern Yemen, famous for its densely packed mud-brick tower houses, many of them five to eleven storeys high and dating mainly from the 16th century onwards. Often called the 'Manhattan of the desert', it was an ancient capital of Hadramawt and a station on caravan routes. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
