Astara
Astara is a town on the Caspian coast divided by the Astara river between Azerbaijan and Iran, the two halves forming separate towns. It was the first capital of the Talysh Khanate in the 18th century, and the Treaty of Turkmenchay of 1828 made the river the border between the Russian Empire and Persia. It is now a road and rail crossing between the two countries.
