Astarte

Also known as Ashtart

Astarte was a major goddess of the ancient Levant, worshipped by Phoenicians, Canaanites and others as a deity of love, fertility and war. Known in Phoenician as Ashtart and related to the Mesopotamian Ishtar, she had great temples at Sidon, Tyre and Kition in Cyprus, and the Greeks identified her with Aphrodite. Her cult spread with Phoenician colonies across the Mediterranean.
