Bad Ems
Bad Ems is a spa town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, on the river Lahn. Its warm springs made it one of the most fashionable resorts of 19th-century Europe, visited by royalty. It is best known for the Ems Dispatch of July 1870, Bismarck's edited report of King William I's meeting there with the French ambassador, which helped provoke the Franco-Prussian War.
