Badan Chandra Borphukan
Badan Chandra Borphukan was the Ahom viceroy of Lower Assam in the early 19th century. Threatened by the powerful minister Purnananda Burhagohain, he fled to Calcutta and then to the Konbaung court of Burma, whose army he brought into Assam in 1817. Briefly dominant at the Ahom court, he was assassinated in 1818, and his intervention opened the way for the Burmese conquest of Assam.
