Bardo National Museum
The Bardo National Museum in Tunis, opened in 1888 in a former palace of the Husainid beys, is the national archaeological museum of Tunisia. It holds one of the world's largest collections of Roman mosaics, gathered from sites such as Carthage, Dougga, El Djem and Sousse, including the famous portrait of Virgil. In March 2015 an attack by gunmen there killed more than twenty people.
