Leptis Magna
Leptis Magna was a major city on the coast of Tripolitania, in present-day Libya, founded by Phoenicians and later a prosperous Roman city. It was linked by trade to the Garamantian Empire of the Fezzan, which supplied goods such as wild animals for Roman arenas. The emperor Septimius Severus, born in Leptis Magna, campaigned against the Garamantes in 202 CE.
