Leptis Minor

Also known as Leptis Parva, Lamta

Leptis Minor was an ancient Phoenician port on the Sahel coast of present-day Tunisia, at modern Lamta, south of Monastir. One of the rich coastal towns known as the Emporia, it was seized from Carthage by Masinissa around 161 BCE. It later sided with Rome in the Third Punic War and became a free city of the province of Africa.
