Bartoszyce

Also known as Bartenstein

Bartoszyce, German Bartenstein, is a town in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship of north-eastern Poland, on the Łyna river near the Russian border. It grew around a castle built by the Teutonic Order around 1240 in the Prussian territory of Barta, which the Prussians besieged during the uprising of the 1260s. It was part of East Prussia until 1945.
