Battle of Albelda
The Battle of Albelda was fought in 859 near Albelda in La Rioja, northern Spain, where King Ordoño I of Asturias defeated Musa ibn Musa of the Banu Qasi, the dominant lord of the Upper March of al-Andalus. According to the Asturian chronicles Ordoño stormed the fortress Musa was building there, and the defeat broke Musa's power. Later legend confused it with the mythical Battle of Clavijo.
