Battle of Breadfield

1479 · 15th century · Also known as Battle of Kenyérmező · Part of the Ottoman–Hungarian wars

The Battle of Breadfield (Kenyérmező) was fought on 13 October 1479 near Orăștie in Transylvania, where Hungarian forces under Stephen Báthory and Paul Kinizsi destroyed a large Ottoman raiding army. It was the greatest Hungarian victory over the Ottomans in the reign of Matthias Corvinus and kept Transylvania free of major raids for years.
