Ottoman–Hungarian wars
The Ottoman–Hungarian wars were the conflicts between the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary from the late 14th century to 1526. Hungary led crusades against the Ottomans that ended in defeat at Nicopolis (1396) and Varna (1444), while John Hunyadi relieved Belgrade in 1456. The wars ended with the Hungarian defeat at Mohács in 1526, after which most of Hungary was divided between the Ottomans and the Habsburgs.
