Second Battle of Kosovo

1448 · 15th century · Part of the Ottoman–Hungarian wars

The Second Battle of Kosovo was fought on 17–20 October 1448 on the Kosovo plain, where the Ottoman army of Murad II defeated a Hungarian and Wallachian army under John Hunyadi. It ended Hunyadi's hope of reversing the defeat at Varna, and on his retreat he was briefly held captive by the Serbian despot Đurađ Branković.
