Battle of Corregidor (1942)
The Battle of Corregidor was the last stand of American and Filipino forces in the Philippines in 1942, on the fortified island at the mouth of Manila Bay. After months of bombardment, Japanese troops landed on 5 May, and General Jonathan Wainwright surrendered the next day. President Quezon's government had already left Corregidor for exile in the United States.
