The Battle of Mongua was fought on 18–20 August 1915 in southern Angola between a Portuguese army under General António Pereira de Eça and the forces of the Kwanyama king Mandume ya Ndemufayo. After three days of fighting the Portuguese, with artillery and machine guns, won the largest battle of their campaigns in the region and went on to occupy the Kwanyama heartland.
