Battle of St. Jakob an der Sihl
The Battle of St. Jakob an der Sihl was fought on 22 July 1443 at the gates of Zürich during the Old Zürich War. The confederate army led by Schwyz defeated the Zürich forces and their Austrian allies outside the city, and the burgomaster Rudolf Stüssi was killed defending the Sihl bridge. The confederates then besieged Zürich, which in the end had to give up its alliance with the Habsburgs.
