Sihl
The Sihl is a river in central Switzerland, about 73 kilometres long, which rises in the canton of Schwyz, flows through the Sihlsee reservoir and runs north to join the Limmat in the city of Zürich. In 1443, during the Old Zürich War, the confederates defeated the Zürich forces at the Battle of St. Jakob an der Sihl, near its bridge outside the city walls.
