Battle of Kappel
The Battle of Kappel was fought on 11 October 1531 near Kappel am Albis, between the Catholic cantons of central Switzerland and Protestant Zürich. The Catholic forces won, and the reformer Huldrych Zwingli, who accompanied the Zürich army as chaplain, was killed. The Second Peace of Kappel that followed halted the spread of the Reformation in the Confederacy.
