24 October – 4 November 1918 · 20th century · Part of the First World War

The Battle of Vittorio Veneto was the final Italian offensive of the First World War, fought from 24 October to 4 November 1918. Italian forces with British and French support crossed the Piave and split the Austro-Hungarian army, which disintegrated as the empire itself broke apart. It ended with the Armistice of Villa Giusti, and Italy took several hundred thousand prisoners.
