Battle of Webi River
The Battle of Webi River was a late sixteenth-century engagement in the Horn of Africa in which the Adalite leader Muhammad ibn Nasir was killed. Together with Emperor Sarsa Dengel's defeat and execution of Sultan Muhammad V in 1577, it permanently ended the Adal Sultanate as a military power. The sultanate afterwards fragmented into city-state remnants.
