Bavaria-Landshut

1392–1503 · 14th century · Also known as Duchy of Bavaria-Landshut

Bavaria-Landshut was a duchy of the Wittelsbach dynasty created in the partition of Bavaria in 1392, with its seat at Landshut in Lower Bavaria. Under the 'rich dukes' Henry XVI, Louis IX and George it became the wealthiest of the Bavarian duchies. When George died in 1503 without a male heir, the War of the Landshut Succession followed, and in 1505 most of the duchy was reunited with Bavaria-Munich.
