Beaucaire
Beaucaire is a town on the Rhône in the Gard department of southern France, opposite Tarascon. A possession of the counts of Toulouse, it was held by the crusaders and recaptured by the young Raymond VII in 1216 after a long siege. Later the seat of a royal seneschalsy, it was famous for its great annual fair, held from the thirteenth century into the nineteenth.
