Bevagna

Also known as Mevania

Bevagna, the ancient Mevania, is a small town in the Umbrian plain of central Italy, on the route of the Roman Via Flaminia. An Umbrian community and then a Roman municipium, it preserves a Roman mosaic of sea creatures and the remains of a theatre. It later came under papal rule and keeps much of its medieval centre.
