Biberach an der Riss

Also known as Biberach an der Riß

Biberach an der Riss is a town in Upper Swabia, Baden-Württemberg, on the river Riss. A market town under the Hohenstaufen, it was a free imperial city from the late 13th century until 1803 and prospered from fustian weaving. After the Thirty Years' War it was governed under strict parity between Catholics and Lutherans. The writer Christoph Martin Wieland was born nearby in 1733.
